On November 13, the Maine State Board of Education approved 2 school construction projects. One of those projects is the RSU33/MSAD33 project, approved to reconstruct a school lost to the Dr. Levesque Elementary Fire and to replace Wisdom Middle/High School.
Because Madawaska is looking to join RSU33/MSAD33, they too can participate in the project, assuming that reorganization is successful and Madawaska joins RSU33/MSAD33. There is no longer a need to wait for the Regional Consolidated School Application that was submitted in October.
Soon, both local school boards (MSAD33 and Madawaska) will need to determine their preferred grade levels to attend the proposed school, and form a school construction committee, made of of stakeholders from each community (Frenchville, Madawaska, and St. Agatha) to begin the planning process.
One of the first steps will be to advertise for engineering firms to lead this process and then the fun begins!
Updates on this process will be added to this blog on a weekly basis.
